Facts
North Warren Elementary is located in the town of Smiths
Grove, Kentucky which was founded in 1871 and has a population of about
1,250. The original portion of the school was built in 1942 with an
additional wing being completed in 1979; a new library/media center
added in 1994 and six classrooms and an elevator was added in 2001. A
new hardwood floor was also installed in the gymnasium in 2001. The
building contains 24 classrooms, a computer lab, an auditorium complete
with stage and permanent seating with a capacity of 340 people, a
separate cafeteria and gymnasium. North Warren has an enrollment of
about 400 students.

North Warren is able to offer several advantages to students. These

A new computer lab with 30 student workstations complete with Mac
computers It is
a equipped with Internet, Mavis Beacon Typing, Orchard math program,
and Microsoft programs.
* An Activboard and two or more computers which are
networked
school-wide in
each classroom.
* An up-to-date library/media center is complete
with automated check-out system and an electronic card catalog
networked county-wide. It houses approximately 10,000 titles, and 10
computer
work stations used for word processing and research. (These stations
are networked and have on-line services.) Various audio/visual
equipment are also available. Accelerated Math and Accelerated Reader
are maintained by the Library as well.
* North Warren students participate in many school
activities such as Beta Club, Pride Pals, Academic Team, STLP, and
Robotics team.

Faculty and Staff
North Warren has an outstanding, highly qualified faculty. Our faculty
has various Bachelor's and Master's degrees in elementary education
with several teachers having up to 36 hours past a Master's degree.
Their specialties and endorsements include kindergarten, early
childhood, math, reading, gifted education, English, counseling,
psychology and sociology, special education, administration, music
education, as well as others. North Warren also has an outstanding
principal who works to ensure children have a safe environment in which
to learn and receive the best education possible. She also makes
certain teachers are well trained with up-to-date teaching methods and
have quality materials with which to learn. We are also fortunate to
have several outstanding aides who work with students along with other
very dedicated members of the staff. North Warren's faculty and staff
are a true advantage for its students.
Parental Involvement
North Warren has an active P.T.O. which meets quarterly with additional
business meetings also held on occasion. There is also a Parent
Volunteer Program, Parent Involvement Committee and Site Base Council.

Services Offered by NWES
North Warren offers various services to students such as:
* nutritious breakfasts and lunches are served daily
with free and reduced prices available to those qualifying.
* a preschool program available for 3 & 4-year
olds in
order to be in a social environment with other children as well as in
learning situations. (Contact North Warren concerning enrollment
requirements.)
* a Family Resource Center which offers a variety of
services not only to the student body but the parent population as
well. Some examples of services provided include emergency clothing and
food closets, parenting classes, violence prevention programs, general
counseling to the family, as well as many other services. Please call

* ESS (Extended School Services) for students needing
assistance with academics are available. The guidance counselor has
more information concerning qualifying for the ESS program.
* guidance and counseling services for all students.
The counselor works with students in their classrooms, in small groups,
and with individuals.
* specially designed instruction is provided to serve
qualifying students with special needs in the Resource Room as well as
through speech and language therapy.
* Title I services available for all students.
* After school childcare is available for students
through Community Education.
