Natcher Elementary follows safe school practices of locking all entrances except one and requires visitor tags and signing in at the office. Security cameras are in place, as well as, a trained crisis response team. We practice safety drills, participate in the Officer in the Schools Program, and teach the Second Step Social Skills Curriculum with every classroom. Students are encouraged to tell an adult when they are threatened or hear or see something that frightens them. A full time guidance counselor teaches guidance lessons in each classroom throughout the year and meets with students individually. We have a school discipline plan, which we try to implement swiftly, fairly, and consistently. Students are rewarded for good behavior and receive consequences for misbehavior. We try to maintain good communication with parents and work together to help children manage their behavior. The most important plan for all of us to follow is open communication. Talk to your children and encourage them to talk to their teachers and their principal when they have concerns. Families are encouraged to call school personnel with questions and concerns. Working together is the best way to make our schools safe.
LEAVING SCHOOL GROUNDS
No student is permitted to leave the school grounds during the school day
unless a parent or authorized adult comes to the office and signs out the child.
If a parent wants their child to be checked out, a picture I.D. is required.
The emergency card is checked to see if indeed the person wanting to pick
the child up is listed.
CRISIS RESPONSE TEAM
A Crisis Response Team is available to our students and faculty in the event that it is needed to deal with situations that impact our school family. All faculty and staff have received Crisis Response training.
FIRE DRILLS
Fire drills are required at regular intervals by law and are important safety precautions. Drills are conducted throughout the school year at various times of the day.
TORNADO DRILLS
As with fire drills, tornado drills are an important safety precaution. Students must follow the teacher’s instruction to the safest areas.
BUS EVACUATION DRILLS
Bus evacuation drills are conducted throughout each school year. The children practice exiting the bus through the rear emergency door following the instruction of the bus driver.
NATCHER SCHOOL RESIDENT
Any pupil attending Natcher School shall be living with his/her parents or legal
guardians in the school’s district. Guardianship must be established through the
courts and a copy of the guardianship papers filed with the school. Verification
of address (a copy of a current electric bill) is required of all students.
REUNIFICATION PLAN
In the event that Natcher Elementary is to be evacuated from the grounds, teachers will take their classes to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Cave Mill Road. Parents will be required to present a picture I.D. in order to pick up their child. See the following page for further information.
