The goal of the Pre-primary program is that all eligible children will start primary school ready and eager to learn. The program is based on the philosophy that young children learn by directly interacting with the environment.

Pre-primary will provide a setting in which children can be successful and develop a love of learning through:

• Recognizing and celebrating the dignity, worth and uniqueness of each child
• Providing activities for children based on knowledge of child development
• Using knowledge of each child’s interests and experiences as the basis for learning activities
• Providing countless opportunities for each child to make decisions, solve problems and express creativity
• Encouraging children to explore, discover and ask questions
• Actively listening and appropriately responding to children’s wants, needs and ideas
• Nurturing children’s social skills by providing opportunity for cooperation
• Celebrating each child’s successes and providing the opportunity for each child to become independent and responsible
• Recognizing parents as the first teacher of children and involving parents in children’s education through parent education and volunteerism
